The only hope the British can have of, in part

at all events, recovering the enormous losses entailed through the war forced upon us by Germany, is by securing their oversea's trade, but our efforts in this direction will be largely counter- -acted if British subjects lend themselves to keeping alive German interests during the continuance of the war.

I fully realise the difficulties which may be

●xperienced in bringing the matter home to the various men referred to, but I trust this will receive the earnest consideration of the Government and that this side of the questions will be placed be- -fore the Secretary of State and the Board of Trade.
